How do I keep a guy if I want sex too?

Why do people always say "make him wait" or "he's only after what he wants" like they're assuming that I want to wait and don't want sex just as badly or more than he does?

I like sex, actually, I love sex. People are telling me the reason guys leave is because I put out too early and I'm too easy. So what am I supposed to do if I want to have sex also? There has to be a way that doesn't make me pretend I'm something that I'm not.
